Mayor wins business leader award

Executive Mayor of eThekwini, Obed Mlaba was recently awarded KwaZulu Natal’s most proactive mayor – based on achievements in the past 12 months.

This was at this year’s Professional Management Review (PMR) Business Leaders’ breakfast and awards ceremony, which was held at the Royal Hotel on Friday, 11 September.

The eThekwini Municipality also walked away with the KZN Leaders and Achievers’ award for KwaZulu Natal’s outstanding city – based on city initiatives and achievements in the past 12 months.

This included the city’s achievements in the following areas:

  • Attracting foreign investments;
  • Attracting tourism; and
  • Attracting local investments

Nominations were made by KwaZulu Natal businesses, and Local and Provincial Government.
