THE City of Tshwane municipality, has drawn up a five-year plan and programme of action to develop and grow the area into a successful city where residents can enjoy a good quality of life.
Through this commitment to improving the delivery of services to its current and potential customers the municipality has decided to conduct a survey to determine the "quality of life" of the residents living within its boundaries.
The survey is expected to yield up-to-date information with respect to the demographic profile, socio-economic profile and quality of life status of the population of Tshwane at ward level..
Plus 94 Research, an independent market research company, has been commissioned to conduct the large scale household survey which will be customised to address the needs of the City of Tshwane.
The Tshwane Survey will collect information on the trends and level on demographic and socio-economic data; access to facilities and services; levels of employment/unemployment; in order to assist government and the private sector in planning, evaluating and monitoring of programmes and policies.
The Tshwane Municipality will enable the municipality to explore in more detail the demographic and socio-economic data of sampled households within each of the 76 Wards. An estimated 4 000 households across all 76 Wards will be interviewed.
"Without the active support and involvement of the communities and stakeholders, the project runs the risk of facing various challenges in terms of gaining access to households and to accommodate interviewers. In an attempt to assist Plus 94 Research in collecting accurate, reliable and social statistical information that is valid, all residents in Tshwane are requested to participate in this research," the municipality said in a statement.
The survey will be conducted during April and the results will be available by the end of May.
