Sithole Mbanga

Sithole Mbanga is Chief Executive Officer of South African Cities Network and has been with the organisation since 2002. He was previously the Local Government Coordinator at the National Business Initiative (NBI), was involved with conducting capacity building training in Municipal Service Partnerships (MSP), and participated in the development and improvisation of DPLG’s national policy on Integrated Development Planning (IDP).

Dr. Geci Karuri-Sebina

Dr. Geci Karuri-Sebina is the Executive Director of Programmes at the South African Cities Network where she manages the research programme. Her work focuses on city governance, policy, and planning. Geci has two decades’ experience working and publishing in the fields of urban development, innovation and foresight. Her most recent publication is the book Innovation Africa (Emerald Books, 2016).

Yolisa Dambuza

Yolisa Dambuza is the Executive Manager: Finance and Corporate Services. She joined the organisation in July 2012 and is responsible for the Finance and Operations portfolio. Her work focuses on financial reporting and compliance, risk management and establishing guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and preparation of the annual budget. She is also responsible for ensuring that organisation’s Human Resources, IT infrastructure and Legal needs are met.

Stacey-Leigh Joseph

Stacey-Leigh Joseph is the Executive Manager: Governance and Communications at the South African Cities Network. Prior to this she was responsible for managing the built environment programme which covered the areas of land and spatial planning, mobility and human settlements development. Her specific research focus areas over the past decade has been on issues related to land, human settlements planning and urban development aimed at transforming cities to be more inclusive and sustainable.

Geoffrey Bickford

Geoffrey Bickford is a researcher at the South African Cities Network, managing the public transport and municipal finance research portfolios. Having previously worked as a transport planner at ARUP a global built environment consulting firm, he has a particularly strong appreciation of overarching transport challenges facing urban areas. At the core of his current research interests is the nexus between land use planning; property economics and development; municipal finance and transport systems.

Khumo Sello

Khumo Sello is a governance researcher at the South African Cities Network. She is responsible for providing support for effective and compliant governance structures to the Chief Executive Officer of the SACN to make sure that the mandate and business plan of the SACN is met. She also responsible for providing research support to the Chief Executive Officer of the SACN. She holds a Bsc Honours in Urban and Regional Planning from University of Witwatersrand.

Lebo 2017

Peter Magni

Peter Magni is a Programme Manager at the South African Cities Network. His research is focused on urban data and long term planning for Cities (City Development Strategies). His areas of interest include spatial planning and land use management and local government infrastructure. He has over ten years’ experience in local and national government.

                                                                                                             

Lebohang Mabala

Lebohang Mabala currently provides a support role in the South African Cities Network’s finance office and has been with the organisation for two years. He holds a BCom Accounting Sciences Degree and has completed South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) articles from the big five audit firms.

Sandiswa Tshaka

Sandiswa Tshaka manages the sustainable cities thematic area of the South African Cities Network. The area supports cities on the transition to sustainable development and her particular focus is on sustainable energy, waste management and climate change. She has worked in the sector for over a decade now.

 

Sadhna Bhana

Sadhna Bhana coordinates programmes at South African Cities Network by providing support and assists in the conceptualisation, implementation of all SACN programme activities.  

                                                                       

Siphelele Ngobese

Siphelele Ngobese is a Researcher in the Urban Safety Programme at SA Cities Network. She has special interest the interface between urban informality and the world class aspirations of post-colonial African cities.

Fleshia Mokwana

Fleshia Mokwana is the Administration Officer at the South African Cities Network. She has been with the organisation for over a year.

                                       

Mayleen

Danga 

 

Mayleen Vincent-Bester

Mayleen Vincent-Bester is a Communications Specialist at the South African Cities Network. She manages both the internal and external communications strategy for SACN as well as driving communication across all SACN’s social media platforms. Mayleen has a background in journalism, having previously worked at a number of newsrooms including EWN; eNCA and the SABC Digital and has fulfilled a number of roles such as online writer; reporter and field producer.

Danga K. Mughogho

Danga Mughogho is the Programmes Manager: Well Governed Cities at the South African Cities Network, focusing on the management of municipal finances, developing human capacity in the public sector and the participation of vulnerable communities in municipal governance. Danga has over twenty years of work experience in both the private and the public sector, and most recently as an independent consultant in democratic governance.
