Open debate and critical thinking regarding the relationship between and usefulness of economics and the environment is encouraged. Additionally, the easy dissemination of information regarding work in this area is also facilitated.

More than 475 cities, towns, counties, and their associations worldwide comprise ICLEI's growing membership.
