ELECTION RESULTS
Gwen Ramokgopa has been elected as the first
female Executive Mayor of Tshwane. Before delivereing her

her.
One of the poorest areas in Tshwane has been given
a new lease on life since being discovered as having huge potential
for growing citrus trees.
A new R400-million housing project combines the efforts of the national and
Gauteng provincial housing departments, the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and banking
group Absa.
Over the next four years, Tshwane will focus on upgrading infrastructure
in the New Eersterus area with tarred roads and storm-water systems.
JOB CREATION
Tshwane’s unemployed residents are set to benefit from
the construction of a R1,5-billion international convention
centre in Centurion.
A pilot project will soon supply 130 houses
in Rooiwal with broadband internet access. Residents will
be able to make free local calls on the network.
Mayor Smangaliso Mkhatshwa has refused to halt
electricity disconnections to non-paying residents in Pretoria and
Centurion, saying the municipality could not afford to do so.
