Houses, hope for Nompumelelo residents
Buffalo City Municipality has initiated a project to improve the lives of 1,200 families living in the Nompumelelo informal settlement in Beacon Bay, East London, by building houses and upgrading the infrastructure.

eThekwini moves to clear slums
Housing Minister Brigitte Mabandla officially handed over 1,216 homes to families living at Welbedacht, previously a slum, as part of the government's project to clear the eThekwini Municipality of all slums as envisaged in the urban renewal strategy.

Joburg upbeat over world-class city status
Executive Mayor Amos Masondo says the 2002/03 Annual Report shows that the City of Johannesburg has positioned itself to become a world-class African city and that council has entered the second phase of its five-year electoral term with renewed confidence.

Energy declaration issued in Cape Town
Partiticipants of the conference have called for a sustainable energy vision that would guide the development of a framework, within which cities and stakeholders can assess and prioritize policies and measures which realises the vision.
