Among the tasks undertaken by the South African Cities Network is the promotion of good governance and management of South African cities, creating a shared learning partnership between the different spheres of government to build the governance of South African cities.

This is the first edition of the Well-governed Cities Annual Report. It is a collection of articles and analysis on issues of governance in South African cities, designed to provoke dialogue and discussion, and inspire cities towards goodgovernance.
