STRATEGIC CONVERSATIONS

SACN’s Strategic Conversations are occasional sessions where leaders from South Africa’s largest cities (typically the metros and secondary cities) and other key stakeholders convene to engage robustly on topical issues, examining key evidence, issues and approaches relating to strategy, planning, leadership and governance of our cities. The format has typically included a headline local or international speaker who brings perspectives and insights.

Past speakers have included Ms. Axumite Gebre-Egziabher (UN-Habitat Director for Africa), Prof. Richard Stren (head of Global Cities Centre in Canada), His Excellency Roeland van de Geer (EU Ambassador to South Africa delegation), Prof. Edgar Pieterse (head of the African Centre for Cities), and Prof. AbdouMaliq Simone (University of London).
